    Daily Announcements

Ms. Harris' class represented Jackson School in the local Camden Christmas Parade to promote leadership and literacy.  Students handed out candy and bookmarks to onlookers and did a fabulous job representing our school.  Way to go, Harris Habitat!

The Community Service Club visited the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter on December 17th to deliver animal supplies that were collected by Jackson School students and staff.  The Service Club made all the flyers and posters to hang around the school and spoke on the JES Morning Show to raise awareness of the supply drive.  Thanks to everyone who donated.

    From the Principal

It has been a productive 1st nine weeks of school.  I want to thank everyone for joining us on our journey as we continue to live the 7 Habits in the Spotlight.  As we begin the 2nd nine weeks of school, please remind your children about the importance of goal setting and making an action plan to achieve our goals.  Here is an example of goal setting: I want to move from 10 AR points to 15 AR points by the end of the month.  My action plan can be a monthly calendar where I chart the amount of books read and the amount of points I receive daily.  At the end of the month, I can check the progress of my goal.  Then, once the student checks the progress of the goal, have a reflective conversation with them about how their goal was achieved.  What steps did they put into place to make sure they reached their goal.  If they did not achieve their goal, then what can they do the next time to make sure they reach their goal when they try again.

Goal setting and scoreboarding is a major part of our leadership initiative.  We can apply goal setting in many different academic and personal situations.  I hope you continue to join us in our goal setting efforts.  As always, thank you for supporting Jackson School, where we Lead, Encourage, Achieve and Dream!

    Educationally yours,
    Matia Goodwin

7 Habits of Jackson School Leaders

    1. Be Proactive:
You are in charge of your actions.

    2. Begin with the end in mind:
Have a plan, set goals, and achieve them.

    3. Put first things first:
    Work first, then play.

    4. Think Win-Win:
    Everyone can win.

    5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood:
    Listen before you speak.

    6. Synergize:
    Working together is better.

    7. Sharpen the Saw:
    Balance works best.

We are growing a community of leaders by engaging one person at a time.
